System Prompt

Hidden instructions that set a model's role, tone, and rules for a chat — in AskClear the mediator writes them for you.

Definition

The system prompt is a hidden instruction given to a model before the conversation starts. It sets the assistant's role, tone, rules, and what it should or shouldn't do — you usually never see it, yet it shapes every reply. It is like a briefing you would hand a new assistant on their first day: 'you are a careful tax helper, answer only from the documents provided, and admit when you are unsure.'

Why it matters

The system prompt is where an assistant's real behavior is decided, so getting it right is what separates a useful reply from a generic one. In AskClear you never have to write it: the mediator turns your plain request and answers into a proper system prompt, and it is frozen when the conversation is created. That means the assistant keeps the same role for the whole chat, even if the app's defaults change later.
